FREQUENTLY ASKED TAISHOKOTO QUESTIONS

G - 1. What type of wood was used for taishokotos in the Taisho era

The type of wood used for taishokoto in the Taisho era was called "katsura" in Japanese.  The family name is Cercidiphyllaceae and generic name is cercidiphyllum in English.  We reproduced the same model by using wood "katsura" with the same scale and painting it in order to hear the sound of that time.  The sounds of the Taishokoto were clear and sublime to hear.  No wonder it became popular at that era.
